2019 RCD SUMMER CAMP
A specialized summer camp for children with diverse abilities

Date: July 29 – August 23, 2019 (no camp on Aug. 5)

Time: Monday to Friday, Day Camp: 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. (Field Trip times may vary)       

Venue: Peace Mennonite Church  (11571 Daniels Road, Richmond)
                                                                                                                                            
Fee: $300 per participant per week

Participants: Children & youth with special needs, age 6 to 16

What:

• Arts and Crafts, Music and Dance
• Co-operative Games and Sports
• Outdoor Playground Activities (weather permits)
• Weekly Bowling and Swimming
• Weekly Field Trips – depending on activity programming

Staffing Ratio:  1 to 2 (some one-on-one support for closer supervision can be arranged as needed, but no guarantee)

Volunteer Recruitment for 2019 Summer Camp

Volunteers are needed to assist summer camp staff in implementing activities and supervising children. There are training opportunities and work under supervision. The position is perfect for high school students fulfilling volunteer hours. Moreover, the experience is very rewarding through the support and care provided to children with disabilities.

Volunteering commitment is based on weekly sign-up: Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. We ask volunteers to sign up for the entire week if possible; and we especially need volunteers on Field Trip days (Tuesday and Friday).

All NEW volunteers need to attend an interview, and ALL volunteers (returning and new) are required to join the training on Wednesday, July 24, 2019, tentatively from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Location to be determined.
