From November 16 to 19, 2022 the RCD will be hosting its 14th annual wheelchair curling bonspiel tournament – 2022 Canadian Open. 

RCD Bonspiel Background

Wheelchair curling tournaments have been staged at the Paralympics since the Winter Paralympic Games in 2006 in Turin. The 2022 Winter Paralympics was held from March 5 to 12, 2022 in Beijing, China. Gold medal went to Team China, Silver to Team Sweden and Bronze to Team Canada. As of October 2022, the current Wheelchair World Rankings Top Five is in the order of: China, Sweden, Canada, Norway, and Russia.

After two years of missing the tournament, the RCD is happy to announce a come-back with 6 teams registered to compete in the 2022 Bonspiel; they are all of high-caliber athletes and including a number of international and national teams. The RCD strives to make this event nationally and internationally acclaimed and hope to attract more audiences and to help bringing wheelchair curling global presence to Richmond.

Play-Offs & Final: November 18 to 19
Award Presentation: November 19, 2022 at 4:30 p.m.
